RESEARCH SNAPSHOT
Research-associated effects
Areas of effect or outcome that researchers have investigated or reported in the literature. These are research associations, not guarantees of a particular result.
Evidence varies by compound, model, formulation, route, endpoint, and study design. Component-level findings do not automatically establish the same effect for a blend.
RESEARCH NOTE
What researchers study
Thymosin beta-4 has been investigated in laboratory and clinical research involving cell migration, tissue repair, angiogenesis, and other biological processes. Human studies have also examined recombinant or synthetic thymosin beta-4 formulations for pharmacokinetics and safety.
For example, a first-in-human study of recombinant human thymosin beta-4 evaluated single and repeated intravenous doses in healthy volunteers and reported pharmacokinetic and tolerability findings.
RESEARCH NOTE
TB-500 is not an established therapy
The existence of human research on thymosin beta-4 does not establish the safety or effectiveness of TB-500 for a particular human use. FDA has specifically identified the thymosin beta-4 fragment (LKKTETQ), also known as TB-500, as having important gaps in human exposure and safety information.
